Taesk CMS was originally developed as a reaction to feature-bloated CMS's where you had to spend more time removing functionality than to actually creating websites. As a result a more minimalistic approach was chosen.
The development team consists of industrial designers in addition to developers, resulting in a very clean and simple user interface. Furthermore the framework is extremely flexible when it comes to being able to implement all those “crazy” things that designers come up with (like coming up with a new way for menus each time).
In this talk Taesk CMS will be introduced and demonstrated, as well as some of the design philosophies behind the design of the system.
Taesk CMS is build on the LAMP platform, using object oriented PHP, with a very disciplined use of types (yes it is possible to write clean PHP). It has a very clean separation for layout and code utilising the SlowTemplate framework (FastTemplate variant).
Taesk CMS have been used and developed by PLUSPEOPLE since 2001, and have been open source the last few years. For a list of cases, online demo, and further information visit: www.taesk.org or www.pluspeople.dk
